Goodbye Twitter

Sands of Time

“What a folly it is to dread the thought of throwing away life at once, and yet have no regard to throwing it away by parcels and piecemeal.“  ~~John Howe

I feel like a weight has been lifted from my shoulders. There was a time when I looked forward to checking in on Twitter but that time is long gone. It didn’t happen overnight but rather a slow and steady feeling of irritation building up over the past year. It used to feel like I was at a lovely dinner party where there was a great flow of conversation and wonderful new people to meet. Now it feels like I’m in the middle of a convention of carnival barkers. Not to mention the incredible amount of spam and loss of civility.

It’s time for me to concentrate on the projects at hand along with those that are still sitting on the proverbial shelf. Time is too precious.

Speaking of which, it’s time for me to head to the barn. Nolan is coming today to trim horses. I think he will be amazed by Ritz’s progress over the past six weeks.

SpiritofHorse here. I just wanted to say thank you for making me feel so welcome on twitter. Just seeing your icon brought me a smile. You are missed. Enjoy your life!

  2. Hey Pamela! I hope we can still keep in touch! I so enjoy our friendship and hope it will continue! :) I know it probably was a bit rude to sign off from Twitter as I did but I knew I had to cut the cord.

I’m really sorry to see you leave twitter. I always looked forward to your posts. I love how you have such a strong sense of family and it was great to follow your experiments with baking and all. Heck I even purchased a Mac on your recommendation and love it. You will be missed.

  4. What an absolutely lovely comment John. Thank you! I miss the core group of genuine folks on twitter of which you were definitely a part. I suspect I will rejoin in the near future under another user name. Only this time I will approach it differently by keeping the follower/following number MUCH smaller. 3,000+ was just too much.

Take good care and we will be in touch! :)

I hope you will rejoin twitter and I look forward to reading your posts if you do. I can’t imagine following 3000+ individuals. I think that would drive me away from twitter.

Take care and have a great weekend.

  9. Hey Ang! *sigh* :) After a break and much contemplation I decided to try the Twitter experience again. I deleted my original account with 3000+ followers/ees and start fresh. I miss the early days of Twitter where one actually connected with their follows vs concerned about building their “numbers”.

I had wondered where you had been. :) I know how you feel. I’d rather have people I can converse with than build numbers. Whenever someone follows me, I don’t autofollow. I look at their profile page and their Tweets. Some, I do follow just to be encouraging. But I’m pretty tired of those there to sell.
